Pakistan Urea Sales Fall 13% in September as Fertilizer Stocks Hit 9-Month Low

Pakistan urea sales fell 13% in September 2026 compared with August, while industry stocks dropped to their lowest level in nine months, according to the latest fertilizer market estimates.

Urea sales stood at around 611,000 tonnes in September, down from roughly 702,000 tonnes in August. However, the picture looks much stronger when compared with last year.

Sales were 43% higher year-on-year, mainly because September 2025 had a low base and crop activity has improved.

Urea Stocks Drop to Nine-Month Low

Pakistan’s urea inventory declined to around 650,000 tonnes by the end of September, compared with approximately 750,000 tonnes in August.

This was the lowest industry stock level recorded in nine months.

Among major fertilizer companies, Engro Fertilizers held the largest inventory at about 519,000 tonnes. Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) had around 88,000 tonnes, while Fatima Group held approximately 29,000 tonnes.

Urea Sales Rise in First Nine Months

Despite September’s monthly decline, overall urea demand in 2026 remains ahead of last year.

Total urea sales during January to September 2026 reached around 4.4 million tonnes, an increase of about 5% compared with the same period of 2025.

Company-wise September estimates show FFC selling around 261,000 tonnes, followed by Engro Fertilizers at 218,000 tonnes and Fatima at 102,000 tonnes.

DAP Sales Fall Sharply

Demand for DAP fertilizer showed a much weaker trend.

DAP sales dropped to around 59,000 tonnes in September, falling 50% compared with August and 39% from a year earlier. Total DAP sales during the first nine months of 2026 stood at about 756,000 tonnes, down 5% year-on-year.

Analysts expect urea demand to show modest improvement ahead as better crop prices support farmers’ purchasing power.

With Pakistan moving into the Rabi crop season, fertilizer demand and shrinking urea inventories will remain important indicators for farmers and the agriculture sector.
