Lahore: The Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC) has approved new marks improvement rules for students appearing in Matric (SSC) and Intermediate (HSSC) improvement examinations across Punjab.
The latest change provides relief to candidates who register for an improvement examination but remain absent from one or more papers.
What Is the New Marks Improvement Rule?
Under the revised policy, if a student misses a paper in a Part-I, Part-II or composite improvement examination, the board will use the marks that the student previously received in that subject.
This means the student’s earlier result for the missed subject will be carried forward when the board prepares the final result.
The new rules also state that if a candidate remains absent from a marks improvement examination, the result will be declared as “Marks Improved.”
Relief for Punjab Board Students
The change is designed to make the marks improvement process easier and clearer for students. Candidates who cannot attend a registered improvement paper will not lose their previously obtained marks in that subject.
The revised rules apply to marks improvement examinations conducted by Punjab education boards. Students planning to appear in upcoming improvement exams should also check notifications issued by their respective BISE for examination schedules, admission forms and other requirements.
