The Pakistani rupee has posted another small gain against the US dollar, keeping the exchange rate close to the Rs277 level.
According to the latest State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data available on October 3, 2026, the dollar’s mark-to-market interbank rate stands at Rs277.0714. The latest trading session was held on Friday, October 2, as October 3 falls on Saturday.
The rupee closed Friday at around Rs277.07 per dollar, compared with Rs277.10 in the previous session. This means the local currency gained roughly three paisas against the greenback.

The latest interbank closing figures were:
- US dollar: Rs277.07
- Previous close: Rs277.10
- Interbank offer: Rs277.27
In the open market, Business Recorder reported the dollar at Rs277.87 for buying and Rs279.01 for selling at Friday’s close. Rates offered by individual exchange companies can differ slightly.
Why Is the Pakistani Rupee Stable?
Pakistan’s improving foreign exchange reserves are providing some support to the currency market.
Official SBP figures show that the central bank’s foreign exchange reserves increased to $21.439 billion as of September 25. Reserves held by commercial banks stood at $5.332 billion, taking Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves to approximately $26.771 billion.
Market reporting also points to balanced dollar demand and supply as one factor behind the rupee’s recent stability.
The rupee has strengthened by around Rs1.09, or 0.39%, during the current fiscal year and approximately Rs3.05, or 1.10%, since the beginning of 2026.
With the interbank rate remaining near Rs277, businesses and consumers will now watch foreign exchange reserves, international oil prices and dollar demand for the rupee’s next move.
