Karachi: The federal government has announced plans to establish Pakistan’s largest Grand Khidmat Markaz in Karachi, giving citizens access to several important government services at one location.
The new public facilitation centre will operate under the Federal Ministry of Interior. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the project during his visit to the ministry’s office on I.I. Chundrigar Road in Karachi.
Which Services Will Be Available?
The Grand Khidmat Markaz will bring counters of different departments working under the Interior Ministry together under one roof.
Karachi residents will be able to access services related to:
- Passports
- CNICs
- Arms licences
- No Objection Certificates (NOCs)
- Other Interior Ministry services
This one-window system is expected to make it easier for people to access key public services without having to visit different government offices.
Master Plan to Be Prepared Within 10 Days
Mohsin Naqvi has directed the concerned officials to prepare and submit a detailed master plan within 10 days. He said the plan should consider citizens’ needs as well as modern service requirements.
Authorities have also been instructed to complete the necessary administrative and technical arrangements for the establishment of the centre.
An official opening date has not yet been announced. For now, the project is in the planning and preparation stage.
Once established, the Grand Khidmat Markaz will provide Karachi residents with a central location for several commonly used federal government services.
