Punjab’s “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” Housing Scheme 2024
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has launched a new housing scheme called “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” (Own Roof, Own Home). This scheme aims to provide affordable housing to low-income families in Punjab.

The Problem:
- Over 10 million people in Pakistan are homeless or living in informal settlements.
- The country has a housing shortage of around 10-12 million units.
- This is due to rapid urbanization, poverty, lack of affordable housing, limited government resources, and inadequate planning.
The Solution:
- The “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program offers:
- Interest-free loans up to 1.5 million rupees
- 7-year easy installment payment plan
- Up to 10 Marla plot in rural areas and up to 5 Marla plot in urban areas
70,000 families will benefit from this scheme in the first phase.
