Punjab Proposes New Registration Fees for Private Schools

Lahore: The Punjab government is considering a new registration fee structure for private schools across the province. Under the proposal, registration charges would be linked to the monthly tuition fees collected by schools.

The proposed system would also allow private schools to receive registration for four years, reducing the need for frequent renewals.

Proposed Registration Fees for Private Schools

According to the proposed structure, schools charging a monthly fee of Rs. 1,500 would pay Rs. 10,000 for registration. Schools charging up to Rs. 2,500 per month would pay Rs. 20,000.

For schools with monthly tuition fees of up to Rs. 5,000, the proposed registration charge is Rs. 50,000. Schools charging Rs. 10,000 per month would pay Rs. 100,000, while those charging Rs. 20,000 would face a registration fee of Rs. 200,000.

The highest proposed fee is Rs. 1 million for private schools charging more than Rs. 20,000 per month.

Registration Renewal Fee

After the four-year registration period ends, schools would be required to pay 50% of the applicable registration fee for renewal and issuance of a new licence.

The new fee structure has not yet been implemented. The proposal for revised private school registration rules is still under consideration and will take effect only after approval from the relevant authorities.
